I spoke with one of the owners, Becky, landscape designer Kristen Whitehead at Helios Landscape Design, and Jason Beck with Rock N Roll Stoneworks about their project in downtown Louisville. As you can see in the before photos, their backyard needed work. Becky and Rob’s dogs had made their own private escape: digging in the dirt, tearing out and killing much of the grass. The front porch and entryway also needed some attention. The left side of the patio had sunk three inches and although it had since been sured-up, it required some leveling before anything further could be done to it.

We regularly work with Abby on projects and we think this one was particularly successful. It received some recognition with one of the largest paver companies, Belgard, in one of their catalogs.
Read MoreWe teamed up with Kristen Whitehead at Helios Landscape Design to begin the project and her expertise doing custom landscape design. Her plans enabled us to start this two part project in the front of the residence, creating a flagstone walkway that cuts through raised landscape beds to the front entryway. Off that entryway there is a sizeable patio that transitions to the front of the garage.

They wanted their pad veneered in pavers, a large patio to enjoy with their family, and a walkway from the patio to their shed and side yard entrance. Because of the grade, we had to put in a retaining wall to the west and that wall transitioned into a grade wall that surrounds the majority of the patio. In addition to the patio space, we installed some large rocks for building a natural transition to the landscaping and grass. Lighting was also installed around the walls, along the steps, and along the walkway.
Read MoreOur clients for this project are divers, love the water, island life, and the calm serenity of enjoying time on the beach. They had a vision to surround their pre-existing pool with more spaces for entertaining that would give the back yard a beach and resort feel. We worked with them to create four distinct entertaining spaces: bar seating leading up to a highly functional outdoor kitchen, a tile patio outside the basement, a fire pit area, and a sand play area for kids. In addition to the entertaining spaces, we built their surrounding landscape to add to the beach feel with rocks, plants, and rope fencing.
