Candlelight Estates Project - Outdoor Kitchen, Tile Patio, and Fire-Pit

About The Project

Our clients for this project are divers, love the water, island life, and the calm serenity of enjoying time on the beach. They had a vision to surround their pre-existing pool with more spaces for entertaining that would give the back yard a beach and resort feel. We worked with them to create four distinct entertaining spaces: bar seating leading up to a highly functional outdoor kitchen, a tile patio outside the basement, a fire pit area, and a sand play area for kids. In addition to the entertaining spaces, we built their surrounding landscape to add to the beach feel with rocks, plants, and rope fencing.

What We Like Best

The outdoor kitchen space has to be one of our favorite aspects of this project. The island and the bar seating allow guests to socialize while the chef(s) grill and are able to join in the fun. The functionality of the kitchen was built highly intentionally with a built-in refrigerator, two grills, storage space for pots and pans, a sink, and trash and recycling.

How We Would Like Future Clients to Use this Project For Inspiration

We really enjoyed coordinating the colors and the spaces for the seamless overall feel of this project. The Belgard Mega Arbel and Cobblestone pavers around the fire pit provided an irregular shape with virtual joints that flow harmoniously into the surrounding landscape while the Rail porcelain tiles of the outdoor kitchen and lounge area give a calming sand feel for relaxation.

Modifications, Challenges, and Lessons learned

The access to this property was a challenge because it had to be entered via a quarter mile access road in the back. We also had some minor issues with plants dying shortly after putting them in, so our warranty applied and those were replaced. As other contractors were on-site working on the deck above, some materials fell and chipped the porcelain tile below. These tiles were also removed and replaced.

Every project we do has changes from the original project plan. Once clients begin to see the work being done, we enjoy continuing open communication to ensure 100% satisfaction and trust. This project was no different. Ensuring our word and warranty are backed up by action is important to building a successful client relationship even after project completion. Because we backed up our work, ensured satisfaction, and kept communication open, we consider these clients friends and look forward to seeing them again soon!
